Writing Samples

With experience in both copy writing and editing, across a range of industries and sectors, I’m able to craft a narrative according to the specific needs of the brief. Whether it’s children’s storybooks or professional services thought-leadership, I’m comfortable with any style, voice, and content type.

I’ve worked in both long- and short-format content and am well-versed in blogs, emailers, webpages, SEO writing, magazine articles, press releases, profile pieces, brochureware, advertising copy and everything in between.

Some recent pieces

One of my most recent projects was refreshing the Cyberlogic website. As part of this project, I wrote all the content on the site, crafting the messaging from start to finish, ensuring the leadership was comfortable with the content and positioning of the service offerings across the business. In addition to the webpage content, I have also ghost-authored many of the articles on the Cyberlogic blog. Any articles not written by me were edited and refined by me in my role as Content Marketing Specialist and later Fractional Head of Marketing for Cyberlogic.

Looking back

In the early days of our journey to parenthood, my wife and I began a blog, called Amateur Mommies, which started as a way to share our fertility journey with other same sex couples struggling to find information. Over the years, the blog has had to take a backseat — we’ve been forced to focus on actually raising children, rather than writing about raising them.

Between 2014 and 2022, I worked for a South African consulting company, BSG, in a range of roles, during which time I authored much of the content on the BSG website, as well as the vast majority of thought leadership on the BSG blog (up to April 2022). All articles published on the site since 2014, when I joined BSG, were either written by me, written in collaboration with subject matter experts, or edited by me when written by others.

In addition to the website copy, thought-leadership articles and case studies I have written for BSG, I have also helped drive graduate recruitment efforts since 2014 with crafted emailer copy and design:

From Zero to Fifty Six was a blog that I ran to document my journey from hip surgery to completing the Two Oceans Ultramarathon (TOM), after which I went on to continue with marathon and ultramarathon running, completing several more marathons, two more TOMs and a Comrades Marathon.

In addition to copywriting, I have 15+ years of experience in graphic, web, and UX/UI design. You can see a selection of my work in my Creative Showcase.
